10th Annual Asia Area Womens’ Conference in Hong Kong Attended by Women from Malaysia

Women from the Kuala Lumpur District of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints eagerly anticipated the first weekend of March, as they joined hundreds of sisters from all over Asia.  They gathered in Hong Kong for the 10th Annual Associated Sisters in Asia (A.S.I.A.) Womens’ Conference. “Sisters” is a term used to address women of this faith.

One sister from Malaysia who attended the conference for the first time said she appreciated being able to choose which classes to attend, depending upon her wants and needs.  “The most wonderful part was that all speakers were our own sisters from all parts of Asia.  I was spiritually touched while I listened to their talks.”  She also enjoyed participating in the sewing service project where their hands were busy making reusable sanitary pads but their mouths were free to talk and visit with one another!  The temple trip was a highlight. Three days for the conference felt too short, she said!

At this annual event, LDS women and their friends throughout Asia join together to hear and share uplifting messages, attend inspirational and educational presentations, participate in a service project and develop friendships.  These women of faith sing songs of praise and thanksgiving, attend the temple, and enjoy the fellowship of other women with parallel values.

This year, more sisters from Malaysia attended than ever before.  It was a wonderful conference, and the sisters were uplifted and strengthened.  They hope to have even more attend from Malaysia next year!  The attached video shows these Malaysian sisters at the conference.
