In every meeting of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, there is music.
Music is the universal language. It has been powerfully entwined with spiritual,
emotional and physical wellness since time immemorial. The power of music is evident
in Mormon Life. Even in the homes of the "Mormons" (members of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints), music is utilized as songs are sung in Family Home
Evenings which are held once a week. Music is an essential part of celebrations such
as Easter, Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Music by the world renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra is broadcast
throughout the world and with technology, can be found on YouTube as well. Their
music has the power to bring joy to all who hear it. Many are moved by the uplifting
messages and the spirit of peace their music brings.
The First Presidency has provided this statement: “Inspirational music is an essential
part of our church meetings. The hymns invite the Spirit of the Lord and provide a way
for us to offer praises to the Lord. Some of the greatest sermons are preached by the
singing of hymns. Hymns move us to repentance and good works, build testimony and
faith, comfort the weary, console the mourning and inspire us to endure to the end."
In the Mormon family, music has the power to promote unity and love. It is an important
component of Family Home Evenings. It exerts a continuing influence for good well
beyond times when children are small. Elder Russell M. Nelson, President of the
Quorum of Twelve Apostles said, “Music provides power for us to express prayerful
thoughts and bear testimony of sacred truths, provides spiritual nourishment and to feel
the spirit of worship and revelation."
Indeed, worthy music is important for the Mormons in their worship services, following
the advice found in Psalms 98:4 from the Old Testament of the Bible to “make a joyful
noise unto the Lord, all the earth make a loud noise and rejoice and sing praise."
The members of the Kuala Lumpur District of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints recognize the power of music. They share their joy and the gospel message
through the musicals they have presented. Performances of an Easter Cantata and
The Parables are two musicals presented in recent years. This year, The Book of
Mormon Cantata will be performed on November 5th. Admission is free. The members
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from the Malaysia Kuala Lumpur
District will perform. This presentation is designed to infuse your soul with uplifting
music and lyrics, and to bring peace and harmony into the lives of those who attend.
